Scientific Advisory Board

Dr. Eivind Hovig is currently employed as a tenured scientist at The Norwegian Radium Hospital (DNR), Institute for Cancer Research, Department of Tumor Biology. He has been working on several research projects at DNR since 1980, as a PhD student, post-doc, and researcher. He has taught at several high-level subjects at the University of Oslo, Institute of Biology, as well as at several courses for education of Medical Doctors in Genetic Toxicology. He has been Assisting editor, Cancer Magazine (UICC) and was appointed member of the Norwegian expert group in gene therapy. He is presently member of the governing bodies of gene therapy and microarrays at the Radium Hospital. He is also on the scientific advisory board of the Norwegian companies NorChip AS and Biomolex AS. Dr. Hovig holds a PhD degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Oslo. He has over 50 international publications. |

Dr. Øystein Fodstad has been the Director of the Institute for Cancer Research at The Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo, Norway’s national cancer research center since 2000. He has recently joined the University of South Alabama Cancer Research Institute to become its be director of the Center for Basic and Translational Science. Previously, Dr. Fodstad was the head of the department of Tumor Biology at The Norwegian Radium Hospital for 15 years. He is also a professor in experimental cancer chemotherapy at the University of Oslo. Dr. Fodstad earned his M.D. in 1967 and his Ph.D. in 1980, both from the University of Oslo. He has over 180 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, review articles and book chapters. |

Dr. William G. Thilly is a co-founder and Chief Geneticist of Peoples Genetics, Inc (Mass., USA). He is also Professor of Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof. Thilly has conducted extensive research on the origins of genetic changes in human somatic and germinal cells and their relationship to the age specific rates of cancer in human populations. He has over 230 publications in refereed journals in the fields of genetics, environmental chemistry and health and biochemical engineering. |
