PubGene has developed a proprietary SaaS (software-as-a-service) platform for domain specific search and information sharing, branded as Coremine. The concept is based on a new search concept providing the user with interactive context networks based on intelligent connections between biomedical terms, where the user can access biomedical information, associate his/her own information, and collaborate through sharing of biomedical mind-maps.
Information is shown in an intuitive dashboard-like presentation for effective contextual overview of the information available. A key part of the dashboard comprises the biomedical mind maps, presenting concepts with the strongest association to the user context and search phrases.
The biomedical mind-maps are based on analysis of qualified scientific information sources using rich ontologies. The mind maps contain information about relationships between distinguished domain concepts or descriptors, such as diseases, drugs, symptoms, procedures, food, and nutrients. The user can interactively navigate the mind maps and access a context-based list of relevant “hits” or documents, where these hits are generated both from internal text analysis and external sources. In addition, users may associate private or public comments or notes (context notes), documents, and web links to the entities and relationships in the mind maps.
