2007


September 2007: Major upgrade to PubGene. Version 2.7 of PubGene was released to the public service site at www.pubgene.org. The "Workspace" concept, which allows users to save search results to a personal page, was introduced in this release. Visitors are encouraged to use PubGene as their "gene information notebook" and help to create a community of advanced users. Version 2.7 also introduced an improved system for presenting graphic networks. Advantages of the new system include greater interactivty and wider range of user options. PubGene also completed a major reworking of its "back-end" indexing system and has increased the frequency of data updates.

July 2007: ISMB 2007, Vienna, Austria. PubGene scientists participated in lectures, discussions and presentation of technology at this annual conference of International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). The event title is Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB).

February 2007: The EU awarded PubGene through the MEMORIES consortium (www.memories-project.eu) a FP6 grant to customize its core text-mining and visualization technologies to allow for advanced information retrieval of archived digital multimedia.

January 2007: Spermatech (www.spermatech.com) licences a customization of the PubGene data mining technology to build a software and database platform to analyze compound-target interactions for Spermatech’s early drug discovery targets in male fertility and the manipulation of sperm movement.

2006


September 2006: MGED 2006, Seattle, Washington. The Microarray Gene Expression Data society (MGED) holds anual meetings to discuss latest developments in the field. PubGene presented a poster at this event and networked with researchers and decision makers from pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as hospital and academic environments.

August 2006: ISMB 2006, Fortaleza, Brazil. Participants at the event included decision makers from pharma and biotech shopping for bioinformatic solutions, as well as leaders in the field of bioinfomratics. PubGene was represented with an exhibit booth as well as by senior scientists participating in lectures and discussions. The event is the annual conference of International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). The event title is Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB).

July 2006: Free PubGene service. The new public service includes advanced biosearch tools, and a easy to use entry point to search for qualified PubGene gene and protein knowledge using Google and PubMed.

April 2006 PubGene, Inc. presents its technology at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, San Francisco, USA.

March 2006: PubGene 2.6 upgrade is released. It is available both as a package for the local installation behind customer’s firewall, or as PubGene On-Line service.

2005


November 2005: PubGene, Inc. presents its technology at the Society for Neuroscience, Washingon, USA.

October 2005: PubGene provides a customized text mining service for Spermatech to aid their drug discovery research on male fertility. Spermatech AS is a biopharmaceutical company focused on development of highly specific agents for the manipulation of sperm movement that can be used as male contraceptives.

September 2005: PubGene 2.5 upgrade is released. It is available both as a package for the local installation behind customer’s firewall, or as PubGene On-Line service.

June 2005: PubGene, Inc. presented its technology at the ISMB 2005, Detroit, USA. View poster PowerPoint file (1.2 M).; view presentation PowerPoint file (1.4 M).

January 2005: Mayo Clinic, Rochester MN, hosts a workshop/seminar on PubGene attended by hundreds of its reaserchers.

2004


December 2004: PubGene, Inc. presented its technology at the ASCB 2004, Washington DC, USA.

December, 2004: PubGene 2.4 upgrade is released.

July 2004: PubGene, Inc. and Beckman Coulter (USA) signed a comprehensive agreement to develop software for the primer selection for the entire human genome.

July 2004: BoviBank, Ltd. (Norway) signed a Site License for PubGene On-Line service.

May 2004: Mayo Clinic (USA) signed a Site License for PubGene On-Line service.

April 2004: PubGene 2.3 upgrade is released.

April 2004: Mitsui Knowledge Industry Co., Ltd. (Japan) signed a distribution agreement with PubGene. Under this agreement, MKI has the right to promote and sell PubGene products in Japan. Please e-mail MKI for the price list or PubGene materials in Japanese.

2003


November 2003:
PubGene 2.2 upgrade is released.

September, 2003: PubGene, Inc. announces the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. The new members are Dr. Nils Vogt and Mrs. Jorun Ruud.

August 2003: VizX Labs signed a distribution agreement with PubGene. Under this agreement, VizX labs has the right to promote and sell PubGene products worldwide. VizX is a maker of GeneSifter.Net.

June 2003: PubGene 2.1 Commercial Database and Analysis Package is released.

March 2003: Pfizer, Inc. signed a Global License for PubGene Database and Analysis Package.

January 2003: PubGene, Inc. and Peoples Genetics, Inc (Woburn, MA, USA). Announce Collaboration to Complete the First Melting Map of the Human Genome.

January 2003: Janssen Pharmaceutica and its Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development Division (Belgium) signed a Site License for PubGene Database and Analysis Package.

2002


December 2002: The Norwegian National Cancer (“Radium”) Hospital and PubGene signed a comprehensive long-term research agreement. As a part of this agreement, the Radium Hospital signed a Site License for PubGene Database and Analysis Package. PubGene will also provide a number of bioinformatic services to the Radium Hospital.

December 2002: The Norwegian Microarray Consortium signed a Site License for PubGene Database and Analysis Package.

December 2002: PubGene 2.0 Commercial Database and Analysis Package is released.

July 2002: PubGene 1.1 commercial Database and Analysis Package is released.

April 2002: Millennium Pharmaceuticals (MPI, Boston, USA) signed a site license for PubGene Database and Analysis Package.
