About PubGene, Inc.
PubGene, Inc. was formed in response to a clear demand for products that
organize information for life-sciences.
The body of scientific literature increases at a dizzying rate.
The sheer mass of information cries out for solutions that
gather related information and juxtapose concepts - allowing the investigator
to visualize and quickly navigate published results and relate these
to their ongoing studies.
Information relevant to drug development, disease prevention, diagnostics
and other issues pertaining to human health and well being is the data-domain that PubGene addresses.
Our current products have been developed from a gene-centric perspective:
PubGene users search our databases with gene names to display "bubble maps"
(networks) that represent relationships between genes. Other terms - "keywords" -
can also be used to retrieve networks of genes (learn more through our
tutorials).
No where is the need for these "bioinformatic" solutions
more evident than in the field of gene analysis using microarrays.
Studies using microarrays examine gene behavior in tens of thousands
of genes simultaneously. The technique is now widely used in research
and development at major pharmaceutical companies and is a big part of ongoing
research at public institutions. Revenues to suppliers of microarray related materials
are on the scale of many $100 million.
PubGene, Inc. is a privately held US-based bioinformatics company.
PubGene, Inc. wholly owns its Norwegian subsidiary PubGene AS, where most of product development and
coordination of marketing activities are carried out.
PubGene is a member of the Oslo Cancer Cluster
and is a client of Innovation Norway.
