Eirik Næss-Ulseth Eirik Næss-Ulseth, Chairman of the Board, holds an MSc degree in Engineering and a general MBA degree. He was Managing Director of the software and consultancy company Taskon from 1988 to 1999 and Senior Research Scientist and Development Manager at SINTEF SI in the period 1982-87. He has been Chairman of the Board of PROFF, the branch organization for the Norwegian software industry, Vice-Chairman of the branch organization within NHO for the information technology industry in Norway, Chairman of the Board of Oslonett (the first Internet company in Scandinavia).
Tor-Kristian Jenssen Tor-Kristian Jenssen, Head of Research and Development, holds an MSc and a Ph.D degree in Computer Sciences. He was a lecturer in Informatics at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1998 –1999, a researcher in the Norwegian Cancer Hospital in 2001-2002, and a Board member of two strategic programs at the Norwegian Institute of Technology.
Eivind Hovig Eivind Hovig, a co-founder of the Company, holds a PhD degree in Molecular Biology. He is currently employed as a tenured scientist at The Norwegian Radium Hospital (DNR), Institute for Cancer Research, Department of Tumor Biology. He has been working on several research projects at DNR since 1980, as a PhD student, post-doc, and researcher. He has taught at several high-level subjects at the University of Oslo, Institute of Biology, as well as at several courses for education of Medical Doctors in Genetic Toxicology. He has been Assisting editor, Cancer Magazine (UICC) and was appointed member of the Norwegian expert group in gene therapy. He is presently member of the governing bodies of gene therapy and microarrays at the Radium Hospital. He is also on the scientific advisory board of the Norwegian companies NorChip and Biomolex.
Jorun Ruud Jorun Ruud holds an MSc degree in marketing from The Norwegian School of Marketing. She is currently partner at Tyria. She has previously worked as Concept Manager in Concept Communication, as a hotel manager for Fagerfjell Høyfjellshotell in 1994 – 1995, as Head of Customer Service at Internet Provider Oslonett / SchibstedNett in 1995 –1997, and Product and Project Manager Internet services for business market in Scandinavia Online in 1997 – 1999. She was also the Head of Sales and Marketing and advisor for Internet solutions Gazette in 1999 – 2002.
Torbjørn Rognes Torbjørn Rognes, Head of the Sencel division of PubGene. He studied computer science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Rognes started development of bioinformatics software in 1993. He defended his PhD in bioinformatics at the University of Oslo in 2001 and established a research group in bioinformatics in 2002. Rognes is associate professor at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo, a research scientist at Rikshospitalet Medical Centre and a group leader in the Centre for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience (CMBN). He is a co-founder of Sencel Bioinformatics.
Øystein Fodstad Dr. Øystein Fodstad has been the Director of the Institute for Cancer Research at The Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo, Norway’s national cancer research center since 2000. He has recently joined the University of South Alabama Cancer Research Institute to become its director of the Center for Basic and Translational Science. Previously, Dr. Fodstad was the head of the department of Tumor Biology at The Norwegian Radium Hospital for 15 years. He is also a professor in experimental cancer chemotherapy at the University of Oslo. Dr. Fodstad earned his M.D. in 1967 and his Ph.D. in 1980, both from the University of Oslo. He has over 180 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, review articles and book chapters.
Dr. John M. Lervik Dr. Dr. John M. Lervik is the CEO and co-founder of cXense. He was a co-founder of Fast Search &Transfer (FAST) in 1997, and served as CTO till 2001 and then as CEO through the acquisition by Microsoft in 2008. Following the acquisition he served as a corporate vice president of enterprise search in Microsoft till 2009. In 2005, Dr. Lervik was named as one of the technology innovators in the prestigious Forbes E-Gang. Lervik holds a Ph.D from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where he was awarded the Esso prize for the best overall Ph.D in 1996/97.
